
The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, through its PUCV Projection Room, will be the main host of the 10th International Festival of Experimental Video, “Process of Error”, which will take place between December 4th and 6th, with shows, exhibitions, rountables and premieres open to the whole community.
Ten years after its creation, “Process of Error” is established as a space for promotion, training and research around Latin American experimental films, fostering collaborative practices, contemporary methodologies and a non-competitive perspective on audiovisual creation.
PUCV Projection Room Program
Projections begin on Thursday, December 4, at 6 PM, with the first block called “Timeless Treatises”, composed by national and international short films. At 7:30 PM the inaugural show will take place, with the chilean short films “Merrimundi”, by Niles Atallah, and “Con Cierta Luz”, by Nicole Remy, both developed in the Process of Error LAB, a formative residence for the festival.
On December 5 th , at noon, the PUCV Projection Room will present the exhibition “Mapas Caminantes”, an initiative where boys and girls from Castro, Valparaíso and Arica explored manual and collective animation from images intervened with school supplies.
During the afternoon the Latin American Assembly of Experimental Film Collectives will take place, as a space for regional dialogue. The meeting will continue at 7:30 PM with the second block of the “Timeless Treatises”, dedicated to everyday reflections, the relationship between the human and the natural, and experiences related to pain and violence.
Finally, on Saturday, December 6th, the Director’s Meeting Expandidas will take place, followed by the “Conditions of a circular history” exhibit and a film forum with filmmaker José Jiménez. The activities of the projection room will conclude with the special presentation of Todo documento de civilización, from argentinian director Tatiana Mazú.
Insomnia Film Program
The last day of the Festival will take place on Sunday, december 7, at 4 PM, at Insomnia Films, with the presentation of the book Transcribir el fulgor: Cinco anotaciones sobre cine experimental. On the same day the Manifestación no binaria, which gathers works in virtual reality (VR) format and monitors.
